Speaking at the opening ceremony, Huynh Minh Thien, President of the HCM City Union of Friendship Organisations (HUFO) said that over 25 years of establishment and development, HCM city Viet Nam - China Friendship Association has become an important organization for the development of people-to-people diplomacy between Viet Nam in general, people in HCM City in particular and the Chinese people.
Appreciating the important achievements of the Association, Huynh Minh Thien expressed his hope that in the coming time, the Association would continue to boost measures to develop the Viet Nam – China relations, including the strengthening of friendship exchanges, proactively participating in the communication activities on the two countries’ ties, improving the quality of its organizations, and expanding exchange activities in association with enhancing the comprehensive cooperarion in the fields of economy, trade, culture and education, while actively participating in the propaganda to constantly enhance mutual trust, understanding and friendship between HCM City and the Chinese people.
With its active contributions in people's diplomacy, the Association has received the Prime Minister's Certificate of Merit in 2007 and the third-class Labor Medal of State in 2012.
At the ceremony, Chen Dehai, Consul General of China in HCM City congratulated achievements of the City’s Viet Nam - China Friendship Association over the last 25 years. He also thanked and highly appreciated the Association for their support on promoting people-to-people diplomacy and organizing exchange programs, contributing to the inheritance and development of traditional friendship between Viet Nam and China.
On this occasion, the HUFO also handed over a hanging of the City’s People's Committee to the Association and awarded certificates of merit to the group and individuals in recognition of their dedicated services to promote people-to-people external affairs activities in the city.
