At the reception, the Vice President in-charge and Secretary General of the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations introduced about the role of the Organization and the Viet Nam – South Korea Friendship Association and exchanged with Ambassador Lee Hyuk a number of issues including the people-to-people exchanges of the two countries; the activities of Korean non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in Viet Nam and investment promotion activities between Vietnamese and Korean enterprises.
Regards as the people-to-people exchanges of Viet Nam and South Korea, Don Tuan Phong said that Viet Nam has the Viet Nam - South Korea Friendship Association with the counter partners the South Korea – Viet Nam Friendship Association; The Association of People Loving Viet Nam in the Republic of Korea (VESAMO), universities, research institutes...
Over the past 20 years, the two sides have strengthened the bilateral relationship. The main objective of the Friendship organizations is to strengthen the people-to-people relationship between the two countries through the delegations’exchange and the exchange of information on world and regional issues such as politics, security and the economy; shared concerns of peace, war, conflict, denuclearization...
Exchange activities especially cultural exchanges between the two countries, through Korean-speaking and Vietnamese-speaking competitions in both countries are promoted.
Vice President in-charge Don Tuan Phong and South Korean Ambassador Lee Hyuk affirmed that Viet Nam and Korea share many similarities in history, culture and political views between the people of two countries. Currently, the number of the Vietnamese community in Korea and Koreans in Viet Nam has reached over 150,000 in each country and tends to increase rapidly in the coming years. Therefore, the two sides agreed to strengthen the cooperation to support them to their development in host countries. In 2017, the two countries will commemorate 25 years of diplomatic relations, the Embassy of Korea in Vietnam and the Viet Nam - Korea Friendship Association and VUFO will organize jointly many practical and meaningful activities.
For his part, Ambassador Lee Hyuk affirmed that the Embassy and KOICA, Korean NGOs will continue to help and carry out humanitarian activities in Viet Nam.
Ambassador Lee Hyuk welcomes the initiative to hold conferences, seminars and business forums of the two countries of the two Associations and affirmed that with the aim to developing the bilateral relationship, not only rely on the two Governments but also on the solid foundation of the economic relationship between the two countries of South Korea and Viet Nam.
