At the reception, Vice President Phong said that VUFO always attaches great importance to the expansion of friendly and cooperative relations with international friends. VUFO has 65 central member organizations, including “the Committee in Solidarity with the people of El Salvador” which has operated actively since the 1980s.
“Our dream is a world of peace. And to do this, people all over the world must understand, share and unite. Peace is the premise of development for a nation. I believe with good traditions of Viet Nam and El Salvador since the 1980s, the two countries will have closer and more comprehensive cooperation through people-to-people exchange activities in the future”, said Don Tuan Phong.
VUFO Vice President expected the Deputy Foreign Minister El Salvador to help introduce partner organizations to “the Committee in Solidarity with the people of El Salvador” to promote the first step in the people-to-people exchange between the two sides. He appreciates and sincerely thanks El Salvador for its support for Vietnamese candidate for UNESCO Director General from Round 2 and expects El Salvador to continue supporting Viet Nam in next rounds.
For his part, El Salvador Deputy Foreign Minister Carlos Castaneda said that he has known the long and fierce war of the Vietnamese people for defending the fatherland since a child. During that time, he was one of the El Salvadorans who supported to ending the war in Viet Nam.
Nowadays people are living in a complex world with many unreliable sources of information, so socio-political organizations like VUFO play an important role in orienting trust and promoting the unity, friendship among the peoples in the world, he said.
Deputy Foreign Minister Carlos Castaneda affirmed that solidarity and friendship will be the foundation of the durable relationship between the two countries.
Within the framework of the visit, El Salvador Deputy Foreign Minister Carlos Castaneda will attend the launching ceremony of the El Salvador Honorary Consulate Office in Ho Chi Minh City.
