At the reception, Mr. Vu Xuan Hong welcomed Mr. Georg Heindl’s visit and highly appreciated the Ambassador’s good performance and contributions to the development of Vietnam during his four- year working term in Vietnam. Mr. Vu Xuan Hong said that the friendship relations and bilateral cooperation between the two countries have actively developed in all fields; and the Austria – Vietnam Friendship Association has played a role as bridge to bring Austrian hearts of gold to Vietnam.
Mr. Georg Heindl expressed sincere thanks to VUFO’s President for the reception and hoped that the Vietnam – Austria Friendship Association would be soon established in the future. In response, Mr. Vu Xuan Hong said that VUFO will try its best to set up the Vietnam – Austria Friendship Association in order to further promote and strengthen friendship relations and bilateral cooperation between the two peoples.
During the Vietnam war, the Republic of Austria was one of the first western countries officially establishing diplomatic relations with Vietnam; actively supported the struggle for justice and national reunification of the Vietnamese people; protested against the Vietnam War launched by the United States. Nearly half a century, the relations between the two counties have well developed on the principles of independence, peace, cooperation and development. In the future, the bilateral relations between the two counties will surely further develop./.
