Attending the ceremony were Mr. Vu Xuan Hong, the VUFO’s President; Mr. Erwin Schweisshelm, Chief Representative of the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung Vietnam (FES Vietnam); representatives from VUFO’s departments; and FES Vietnam staff.
Addressing at the ceremony, Mr. Vu Xuan Hong expressed warmest thanks to FES Vietnam for its remarkable contributions to the development of Vietnam for over 10 years. He said that FES Vietnam is the first foreign non-govermental organization signed a framework agreement under the Government’s new decree.
According to the signed Framework Agreement, VUFO commits to support and create favorable conditions for FES to implement its programs and projects in Vietnam. And FES Vietnam commits to ensure long-term funding for humanitarian projects; support development in the fields of enhancement of organizational capacity, policy researches and international cooperations, and cooperation projects with Ministries, Research Institutes and Universities of Vietnam.
The Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung, established in 1925, is the German oldest political foundation. The Foundation was named after the first democratically elected President of Germany. The Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung opened its representative office in Hanoi in 1990 and was one of the first international non-profit organizations working in Vietnam. It has been actively supporting Vietnam’s renovation process, administration reform, door-opening policies, as well as improvement of capacity of the civil servants./.
