Attending the ceremony were Saadi Salama, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Palestine; the Venezuela Ambassador Jorge Rondon Uzcategui; Ho Anh Dung, Chairman of Vietnam’s Committee for Solidarity with the Palestinian people; Nguyen Quang Khai, the Chairman of Viet Nam – Palestine Friendship Associations and representatives of the central and city leaders, the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations (VUFO), Hanoi Union of Friendship Organizations, Embassies and international organizations in Viet Nam.
Ho Anh Dung, Chairman of Viet Nam’s Committee for Solidarity with the Palestinian people, read President Tran Dai Quang’s the Message of Solidarity.
In the message, President Tran Dai Quang said Viet Nam always supports the unity between the Palestinian forces, fighting for the common goal of the Palestinian national inity. In that spirit, Viet Nam welcomes the positive progress of the Palestinian internal reconciliation progress. Viet Nam says that the conflict between the Arabs and Israel, which is at the core of the Palestinian issue, can only be resolved by negotiating peacefully with a view to a comprehensive, fair and legal solution on the basis of international law and legitimate interests of the parties concerned, in particular respect for the fundamental rights of the Palestinian people, including the right of establishment of the Palestinian State in their homeland.
President Tran Dai Quang asserted that the State and people of Viet Nam are always a supporter of the cause of the Palestinian people in their struggle for basis national rights: believing that with the efforts of the Palestinians themselves and the strong support of the international community, the struggle of the Palestinian people will win.
For his part, Saadi Salama, Ambassador of the State of Palestine to Viet Nam extended to the government and the friendly people of Viet Nam the sincere thanks of the leadership and the people of Palestine for the consistent support given to the just struggle of the Palestininian people.
In his speech at the ceremony, the U.N. Resident Coordinator, UNDP Resident Representative to Viet Nam, read the U.N. Secretary General Antonio Guterres's message on the International Day for Solidarity with the Palestinian People.
Also at the ceremony, the Viet Nam - Palestine Friendship Association of Hanoi gave the Establishment Decision to the branch of the Department of Arabic Language and Cultures of the University of Languages and International Studies of Hanoi National University.
The ceremony was closed by a documentary entitled “This is Palestine” afterwards.
