Attending the ceremony were Don Tuan Phong, VUFO Vice President in-charge and General Secretary; Do Duc Dinh, Vice President of the Viet Nam - Africa Friendship Associations.

Presenting the medal to the Ambassador at the ceremony, VUFO Vice President in-charge and General Secretary Don Tuan Phong said the award aims to acknowledge the diplomat’s contributions to the friendship and cooperation between the people of Viet Nam and South Africa as well as other African countries over the past years.

Ambassador Kgomotso Ruth Magau has worked closely with the VUFO and the Associations in people-to-people exchange activities and friendship meetings such as the Africa Day and celebrations of the anniversary of the Southern African Development Community. The Ambassador also enthusiastically participated in events held by the VUFO.

He hoped that the diplomat, in any position, will make more contributions to consolidating and developing the bilateral relationship; will always remember Viet Nam and see the country as her second home.

For her part, Ambassador Kgomotso Ruth Magau said she was honoured to receive the medal, the highest award of VUFO, expressing her belief that ties between the two countries will continue to expand, and pledged to do her best in any position to contribute to bilateral ties.
