Former President Italia – Viet Nam Friendship Association passed away
Mr. Ettore Masina, Senator, the former President of the Italia – Viet Nam Friendship Association, died June 27th, 2017 in Rome, Italia, at the age of 89. The funeral is celebrated on Friday, June 30th, 2017 at San Frumenzio Via Cavriglia 8 Roma, Italia.
Ettore Masina was born on September 4, 1928 in Breno. He was a correspondent for the newspaper "Il Giorno" from 1952 to 1969, correspondent for the State television channel RAI from 1969 to 1982. In 1983, he joined the Italian Communist Party and was elected to be a Congressman, then a Senator for several terms, from 1984 to 1992.
He was the founding member and President of the Italia – Viet Nam Friendship Association in the last year of the 80's and early 90's. In recent years, despite his age, he paid much attention and gave support and contribution to the activities of the Italia – Viet Nam Friendship Association in particular and the Viet Nam - Italia relations in general.
Ettore Masina is a close friend of Viet Nam. As the President of the Italia – Viet Nam Friendship Association, he made contributions to the people of Central provinces of Viet Nam during the post-war period. With his valuable and important contributions, he was awarded Friendship Medal by the Vietnamese State in 2008.
The Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations sent condolences through the Vietnamese Embassy in Italy transferred to the Italia – Viet Nam Friendship Association and his family’s Ettore Masina.
In a condolence letter, the leaders of the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations affirmed: "Ettore Masina is a close friend of Viet Nam. As President of the Italia - Viet Nam Friendship Association, he helped many people in the central provinces of Vietnam during the postwar period and was awarded the Vietnam Friendship Medal in 2008 for contributing to the development of Viet Nam, friendship and cooperation between Viet Nam and Italy".
