The meeting saw the presence of Mr. Vu Trong Kim, Vice Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam National Fatherland Front, Chairman of VLFA; Mr. Nguyen Van My, Director General of the Asia-Africa Department of VUFO; members of the Executive Board of VLFA; representatives of the Liaison Committee of the Vietnamese volunteer troops and military experts forr internation missions in Laos
At the meeting, the two sides informed to each other about the country’s political, economic and social situation, reviewed on advantages and challenges in consolidation and development of the cooperation relationship between the two countries.
The two sides expressed their delight at achievements in the cooperation relationship in all fields between the two countries. Politically, Vietnam and Laos continuously attach great importance and give top priority to development of the relationship. The two countries regularly exchange high-level visits, information, and coordinate in related issues in international and regional forums. Economically, Vietnam ranks the second among the countries having investments in Laos with 413 projects with total invested capital of more than US $ 4.9 billion.
The two sides reviewed the two Associations’ activities in 2012 and 2013. Remarkably, the two Associations have successfully organized the 3rd Vietnam – Laos People’s Friendship Festival in Vietnam, published the Special Issue “Viet – Laos in my heart”, held activities of gratefulness and repayment and other friendship activities, popularized the two countries’ relationship under various forms.
The two sides agreed to focus on extensive propaganda to the masses, especially the young generation, on Vietnam – Laos traditional friendship via all forms of people - to - people exchange; development of local associations in the two countries; annual exchange of delegations; and exchange of plans of actions for coordination every 3 months.
