At the Tan Son Nhat International Airport, Mr. D. V. Tripathi said: “I respect and admire President Ho Chi Minh very much. So, the first thing I wish to do when arriving here is to respectfully bow my head for the memory of President Ho Chi Minh, the Great Leader of the Vietnamese people, who together with Indian Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru cultivated the traditional friendship relations between the two countries’ people.”
The Indian delegation visited Cu Chi Tunnel, where witnessed numerous heroic victories of the Vietnamese army and people during the American War.
The Indian delegates expressed their admiration at Vietnamese communist fighters’ determination, courage, ingenuity and endurance in the struggle against the foreign invaders. Mr. D. P. Tripathi said if they did not see the “incredible work” with their own eyes, they would never imagine how the Vietnamese people in general and Cu Chi people in particular could have resisted and won the war.
In the evening, the Ho Chi Minh Union of Friendship Organizations and the Vietnam – India Friendship Association in Ho Chi Minh City held a Vietnam – India Cultural Show.
In the atmosphere imbued with friendship, the audience of Ho Chi Minh City and Indian friends enjoyed special performances by Indian artists and students of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. This cultural show concluded one week of the 6th Vietnam – India People’s Friendship Festival held in Hanoi, Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City.
