Being one of the biggest projects of friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and China in recent years, this project attracted concerns from the two countries’ leaders, performing the development of friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
Present at the Ceremony, on the Vietnamese side, were Mr. Vu Xuan Hong, VUFO President; Mr. Nguyen Xuan Thang, member of the CPV’s Central Committee, Chairman of the Vietnam – China Friendship Assocation (VCFA); high-ranking officials from the Governmental Office, Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Construction, Planning and Investment, Finance, Industry and Commerce; representative of the Hanoi People’s Committee, VUFO and the people in Tu Liem District; central and local mass media.
The Ceremony also saw, on the Chinese side, the presence of Mr. Kong Xuanyou, PRC Ambassador to Vietnam; representative of the Chinese Contractors and staffs of the Chinese Embassy in Hanoi.
Addressing at the function, VUFO President Vu Xuan Hong said the Project stemmed from the wish of the people to have a place for conducting friendship and cultural exchange activities and other international events, contributing to the enhancement of the mutual understanding and treasuring the traditional friendship between the two countries.
Mr. Hong hoped that the Yunnan Construction Company would closely coordinate with the Management Board of the Vietnam – China Friendship Palace Project accelerating progress of the Project, ensuring safety, effectiveness and quality for early completion of the work, creating a modern and beautiful cultural architectural view in the Southwest area of Hanoi.
Chinese Ambassador Kong Xuanyou said the Palace project would help strengthen mutual understanding, cooperation and deepen the friendship ties between Vienam and China. Along with Vietnam, China would make its efforts to further develop the two countries’ friendship and cooperation ties, which were cultivated and nurtrured by generations of the two countries’ leaders.
In October 2004, on the occasion of the visit to Vietnam by Chinese Premier, the two countries’ Prime Ministers laid the landmark to identify the location for the Place at Me Tri Commune, Tu Liem District, Hanoi City.
The Palace will be built in an area of 3.3 hectare campus with the building area of 13.966 square meters. Total construction capital of the Vietnam - China Friendship Palace is about 140 million yuan, due to the PRC government grant funding.
The Vietnam – China Friendship Palace Project is expected to finish within 20 months and soon put into use in serve for cultural and spiritual life of the two countries’ people.
