The reception was attended by Mr. Patrick Brown, Member of Parliament, Co-Chair of the Canada – Vietnam Parliamentary Friendship Group; Mr. Denzil Minnan Wong, Toronto City Councillor; Mr. Do Trac Bang, President of the Canada-Vietnam Friendship Association; Mr. Nguyen Viet Tien, Deputy Minister of Health, Chairman of the Vietnam – Canada Friendship Association (VCFA); Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoi, VCFA Vice President; and presentatives from VUFO departments.
At the reception, Mr. Hong welcomed the delegation’s visit to Vietnam on the occasion of 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between Vietnam and Canada. He briefed his guests on VUFO’s and VCFA’s operations as well as their roles in promoting relationship between Vietnamese people and those around the world, including Canadian people.
For his part, Mr. Devolin said Canada highly appreciates Vietnam’s development and considers Vietnam its strategic partner.
He expected the two countries will continue to strengthen investment cooperation and pledged further support for Vietnam.
On behalf of the delegation, Mr. Patrick Brown awarded Mr. Vu Xuan Hong “Friendship” Medal – the highest award of Canada – Vietnam Friendship Parliamentary Group for his contribution to the development of cooperation and friendship between Vietnam and Canada
