Mr. Vu Xuan Hong, President of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations (VUFO); former Japnanese Prime Minister Tomiichi Muarayama, President of the Japan – Vietnam Council of Peace and Friendship (JVPF); more than 80 Vietnamese and Japanese delegates took part in the Seminar.
The participants shared their experiences in people exchanges, put forward orientations for the coming time, and discussed measures to enhance and consolidate the Vietnam – Japan Strategic Partnership.
Mr. Monoki Shiro, Vice Chairman of the Japan – Vietnam Friendship Association (JVFA) said that JVFA had conducted numerous practical and in-depth activities. In the time to come, JVFA would expand its network nationwide, strengthen the activities of cultural and educational exchanges, and promote economic and trade cooperations between the two countries.
Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Binh, Chairman of the Japan Alumni of Vietnam (JAV) made an introduction on JAV’s activities. JAV not only held cultural exchange activities, education conferences within Vietnam, but also took part in activities of the Japan Alumni of Southeast Asian countries. Currently, JAV has more than 1500 Japan alumni members, wholeheartedly devote for the friendship building between the two countries’ people.
The representatives from the Vietnam – Japan Friendship Associations in Hanoi, Hai Duong, Can Tho, Da Nang also shared their experiences. The local reality showed that it is necessary to attract local authorities’ attention for the successful organization of people’s friendship exchange activities, as well as pro-activity of all associations in cooperation with their partners, creativeness in holding activities, and concentration on organizational building.
Mr. Onishi Shigeharu, JVPF delegate said that JVPF regularly organizes humanitarian activities in Vietnam, particularly pays attention to the Agent Orange victims. JVPF held concerts and exhibitions to raise funds for the Agent Orange victims, conducted surveys and made movies about the Agent Orange victims in Vietnam for dissemination of information to the Japanese people. In the coming time, JVPF will continue to build rehabilitation centers, vocational training centers, hospitals people with disabilities in provinces and cities of Vietnam.
Mr. Furuta Motoo, JVFA Chairman, appreciated the activities of the Vietnam - Japan Friendship Associations, which are more and more deepened and practical for peace and solidarity between the two peoples .
On the same day, under authorization of the State President Truong Tan Sang, VUFO President Vu Xuan Hong awarded the State Medal of Friendship to Mr. Furuta Motoo, Chairman of the Japan – Vietnam Friendship Association to honor his contributions to promoting friendship and solidarity between the peoples of Vietnam and Japan .
