The Convention saw the presence of Mr. Vu Xuan Hong, VUFO President; representatives of the CPV Central Committee’s Commission for External Relations and Ministry of Foreign Affairs; representatives from other provinces as Ninh Binh, Hai Duong, Bac Giang , Vinh Phuc, Tuyen Quang and Ha Noi; representatives of Care International, World Vision International, Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies; and leaders of provincial departments and agencies…
The people-to-people diplomacy of Thanh Hoa province has been promoted in recent years. The Friendship Associations such as Viet Nam – Russia, Viet Nam – Germany, Vietnam – Laos, Vietnam – Thailand, Vietnam – Cambodia, Vietnam – Japan and Vietnam – Hungary have actively contributed to the enhancement of the friendship and cooperation relations between the Thanh Hoa people and other countries’ people.
The foreign non-governmental aid mobilization of the province has got good results. Annually, 8 to 10 millions USD are mobilized from international organizations. Currently, there are about 40 NGOs operating in Thanh Hoa province in the fields of poverty alleviation, disaster relief, climate change… The projects funded by NGOs have practically contributed to poverty reduction and socio - economic development of the province.
Addressing at the convention, VUFO President Vu Xuan Hong believed that THUFO would further strengthen its role in people-to-people diplomacy, contributing to the provincial socio - economic development.
The convention elected a 35 - member Executive Board; Mr. Hoang Van Hoang, Executive Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, was elected THUFO’s Chairman. Mr. Nguyen Song Hoan, Director of Foreign Relations Department, and Mr. Trinh Ngoc Giao, Chairman of the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee, were elected Vice Chairmen.
