The Can Tho Union of Friendship Organizations was established in 1993, originally known as the Friendship Association with Foreign Countries. Since then, it has overcome many difficulties and challenges to fulfil its tasks; acted as active counsellor to the Municipal Party Committee, the People’s Committee of Can Tho to effectively implement Directive No 28-CT/TW of the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat; closely collaborated with other City’s departments; highly promoted the role and operations of the Union’s members associations.
For its excellent achievements, the Union was awarded Excellent-Competitiveness Award of Prime Minister in 1999, the Order of Labor - Third Class in 2003, the Excellent-Competitiveness Award and many other awards of the Can Tho People’s Committee. In 2012, the Union was awarded the VUFO’s Leading-Competitiveness Award.
Mrs.Vo Thi Thanh Nga, President of the Union, expressed deep gratitude to the Can Tho Union’s leaders and staff for their contributions. She hoped that the former leaders will support the Union’s operation in order to contribute to effectively implementing the Union’s tasks under the slogan unity, innovation, enhancement of people-to-people diplomacy for Can Tho’s sustainable development of the 3rd Congress of the Union (2013-2018)./.
