At the meeting, the two sides discussed the necessary preparation and planning for the WPC’s Executive Committee Conference in Viet Nam in November, 2017.
Vice President Don Tuan Phong affirmed that the VUFO would do its best to coordinate with Viet Nam Peace Council (VPC) and support the WPC’s to successfully organize the Conference.
Prior to, at the briefing of the first 6 months of 2017 of the VPC, Phong said that the Executive Board of VPC should be organized in accordance with the standard and manner based on the performance of the World Peace Council. Don Tuan Phong also requested that the detailed proposal of the Conference should be elaborated and concretized. Accordingly, VPC could set up an organizing board consisting of various sub-boards to ensure the content, form and external propaganda for the conference.
In April 1949, the First Conference of WPC was held in Paris and Prague. In 1950 with the efforts of international delegates, scientists and activists, the World Peace Council was founded in Warsaw, Poland. Over the past 60 years, the World Peace Council has given tremendous support to Viet Nam, particularly in the two resistance wars for national independence.
