Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dzung made the statement while receiving Vice Chairman of Japan’s International Friendship Exchange Council (FEC) Yoshihiko Nakagaki in Hanoi, on October 4.
The FEC was established in May 1983 as a non-profit international exchange organization that, on the private-sector level, promotes the relationships of friendship and cooperation between Japan and other countries.
Speaking at the meeting, Deputy PM Dzung expressed his pleasure at the development of the Viet Nam - Japan comprehensive strategic partnership, with the political trust between the two sides continuously improving and exchanges between the two countries' leaders being regularly maintained.
Regarding their economic development, Japan continues to be the leading partner of Viet Nam as the largest provider of ODA, the second largest direct investment partner and the fourth largest trading partner. Japanese businesses investing in Viet Nam are prestigious and have contributed positively to the local socio-economic development.
Deputy PM Dzung praised the FEC member enterprises for undertaking their annual visit to learn about Viet Nam's policies on economic development and Japanese investment attraction, as well as exchanges, to further promote the investment and trade cooperation between the two countries.
In addition, the deputy PM also expressed his wish that Japanese businesses would pay greater attention to hi-tech agriculture, which has huge potential for cooperation. Viet Nam wishes to lure more Japanese investment, especially in priority sectors in the strategy for industrialization, energy, supporting industries, promoting technology transfer and supporting human resources training.
Dzung also emphasized Viet Nam’s determination to continue to vigorously implement measures with which to perfect its legal framework and policies to create a more stable and open business environment for foreign investors, including Japanese enterprises.
Yoshihiko Nakagaki said that for the past seven years, he has led the FEC's high-ranking delegations to visit and work in Viet Nam, witnessing its impressive growth in all aspects of socio-economics.
Yoshihiko Nakagaki also suggested that in the time ahead, when domestic economy enters the next development steps, with a growing economy and complex challenges, Viet Nam need to improve the efficiency of economic operation and focus on the important fields for sustainable development.
