Algerian Ambassador in Vietnam H.E. Cherif Chikhi was conferred the Medal for Peace and Friendship among nations at a ceremony on January 12 in Hanoi. Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoang Van, Vice President of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations (VUFO), handed the medal.
The ceremony also witnessed the presence of Vietnam-Algeria Friendship Association (VAFA) Vice Chairman Le Thuong and Vietnam-Africa Friendship and Cooperation Association (VAFCA) Vice Chairman Do Duc Dinh as well as officials from the Algerian Embassy in Vietnam and VUFO.
Speaking at the ceremony, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoang Van praised the positive development on the relations between Vietnam and Algeria, highlighted by a stable growth of trade despite global economic difficulties. A number of bilateral cooperation agreements in trade, science and technology, culture and investment have been signed. The cooperation between ministries and departments of the two countries has also been strengthened.
The Friendship Medal handed to Ambassador Cherif Chikhi is to honor his active devotion to promoting friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Algeria in particular, and between Vietnamese people and African people in general. As the head of the African Ambassador Group in Vietnam, Ambassador Cherif Chikhi has actively coordinated with VUFO, VAFCA and VAFA in organizing various diplomatic activities. Ms. Hoang Van believed that, with love and attachment to Vietnam, Ambassador Cherif Chikhi will continue to contribute to the friendship and comprehensive cooperation between the two peoples in his new posts.
Ambassador Cherif Chikhi conveyed his sincere thanks for the support and cooperation of VUFO to the Algerian Embassy in general and himself in particular during his term. The ambassador has also affirmed his efforts and cooperation to the development of Vietnam-Algeria ties in the time to come.
