The 6th Vietnam-China People’s Forum was held on December 1-3, 2014 in Nanning in China’s ethnic autonomous region of Guangxi Zhuang, co-organised by the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations (VUFO) and the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC). Participants were experts and scholars who have significant contribution to the development of Vietnam-China relations.
In the spirit of constructive and responsible attitude, participants held a series of exchanged opinions focused on the recent situation of the relations between Vietnam and China, and the importance of how to preserve bilateral traditional partnership and friendship in serving the construction and development of each country.
The Forum’s participants agreed that high-level visits and contacts between leaders of the two countries and bilateral agreements reached in recent years have contributed to improving bilateral relations and cooperation in all aspects.
Regarding maritime and islands disputes that still pose as obstacles in the relationship of the two countries, the Forum’s common advice is to have better control of differences in order to satisfactorily resolve East Sea disputes on the basis of common perception reached by the leaders of the two countries on the fundamental guidelines to settle maritime issues in line with international law, further contributing to the stable and healthy development of bilateral relations and peace, stability and prosperity in the region.
CPAFFC Vice President Feng Zuoku, Vice Chairman of the ethnic autonomous region of Guangxi Zhuang Zhang Xiaoyin and Vice Chairman of Quilin City Tao Lijian have respectively received the Forum’s participants.
During the time in Guilin, delegates visited a hospital and a school where thousands of Vietnamese officers, soldiers and young people had received treatment and education in the past.
