In the meeting, Giang provided the American delegation information on the achievements gained by Viet Nam in socio-economic development during the renovation process. He emphasized the open policy of Viet Nam, which acts as the driving force for the growth of the economy, particularly in boosting trade ties with other countries, including the US. He also introduces about roles of the Viet Nam Union Friendship Association and the Viet Nam – US Society in promoting friendship among Viet Nam and other countries.
John McAuliff, Executive Director and Founder of FFRD said Viet Nam’s renovation has immensely impressed him, hoping the trip will create opportunity for his team members to personally observe the endeavors of Viet Nam in national development and postwar healing efforts, boost mutual understanding and friendship.
During the visit, the American delegation will work with a number of departments in Hanoi, the local Unions of Friendship Association such as Danang, Thua Thien Hue, Ho Chi Minh city, besides, visit disadvantaged families in Quang Tri and some relics and history in Ho Chi Minh City.
