The Congress elected 21 members in the new Executive Committee. Nguyễn Hữu Hồng, Director of Hanoi Tram Joint Stock Company, was elected to be the Chairman of the Vietnam – Thailand Friendship Association of Hanoi for the 2017 - 2022 term by the Congress.
The participants attended the Congress including: President of Vietnam – Thailand Friendship Association Tạ Quang Ngọc, Standing Vice President of Hanoi Union of Friendship Organizations Cấn Việt Anh, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Thailand in Vietnam Manopchai Vongphakdi and Representatives of some Departments in Hanoi, members of the Executive Committee, as well as members of the Vietnam – Thailand Friendship Association of Hanoi.
During the past term ( 2012 – 2017), the Vietnam – Thailand Friendship Association of Hanoi has actively participated in many activities that organized by the Hanoi Union of Friendship Organizations such as: Friendship Spring Journey, Friendship Peace Culture Festival, Run for Children... Many activities, meetings have been organized to celebrate the anniversary of friendship on the occasion of the bank holidays of Vietnam and Thailand with the aim to strengthening friendship, cooperation and enhancing delegation exchanges. In addition, the Association has taken part in philanthropic activities such as Quảng Trị province’s Liberation Day and 81 days of fighting in Quảng Trị Citadel. The Hanoi Friendship Association has paid visits and given gifts to some beneficiaries in preferential treatment policy in Hà Tĩnh Province, Study encouragement fund and historical relics in Quảng Trị Province... Besides, the Association has participated in charity programs, given Tet gifts to poor families in Mỹ Đức ( Hà Nội), supported for the campain “Fund for the poor”, “For the beloved Trường Sa”... These meaningful acivities have received positive response from a large number of members’ the Association. It can be said that the activities of the Vietnam – Thailand Friendship Association, which have been implemented in the past term, has contributed significantly to the expansion of people – to – people diplomacy and the promotion for human culture of Hanoi to Thailand and international partners.
As regards orientation and mission in the next term, the Vietnam – Thailand Friendship Association of Hanoi would continue to focus on following issues: strengthening and consolidating the organization; promoting the image’s human and country of Vietnam; enhancing the role of extensive bilateral partnership with Thailand in all fields; impulsing charity work and funding donations to help the poor and disaster victims.
Standing Vice Chairman of the Union of Friendship Organizations of Hanoi Cấn Việt Anh acknowledged and appreciated the achievements of the Vietnam – Thailand Friendship Association of Hanoi in the past term.

Vice Chairman Cấn Việt Anh, who highly agreed with the orientation and mission of the Vietnam – Thailand Friendship Association of Hanoi for the 2017- 2022 term, said that the orientation which set out followed basically the guidelines, national foreign policy and socio-economic development program of Hanoi. He expressed to implement effectively the following motto “active, flexible, creative and effective”. The Vietnam – Thailand Friendship Association of Hanoi should concentrate and renovate the efficiency of the people’s external affairs; improve the development of member organizations; enhance the bilateral partnership as well as to promote copperation in all fields.
On this occasion, on behalf of the Presidium of the Hanoi Union of Friendship Organizations, Vice Chairman Cấn Việt Anh presented certificates to the collectives and individuals, members of the Vietnam – Thailand Friendship Association for their contributions to the Association during the past term.
