Hessen State (Germany) awards scholarships to 78 outstanding students in Hanoi
(TDO) On May 17th, the Hessen Scholarship Awarding Ceremony (Germany) was awarded to 78 outstanding Vietnamese students in the 2016 – 2017 school year, at the Văn Miếu – Quốc Tử Giám (Hanoi).
The event was organized by the Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam, the Ministry of Science and Art of the Hessen State (Germany), the World University Support Organization (WUS), the Vietnam Study Encouragement Association and the Vietnam – Germany Friendship Association.
The scholarships were given to 78 outstanding students in Hanoi and surrounding areas, representing 250 excellent students throughout the country in the 2016 – 2017 school year. Scholarships are highly meaningful in humanity, education and training encouragement, scientific research.
After the incense ceremony at Văn Miếu – Quốc Tử Giám (Hanoi), Bùi Công Thọ, Chief representative of Hessen Office in Vietnam, expressed his gratitude to the German organizations for contributing to valuable support for Vietnamese students. These scholarships are an crucial source of material and spiritual encouragement which sharing difficulties and helping students to gain the highest achievement.
Kambiz Ghawami, President of WUS, spoke to congratulate the excellent students and shared his feelings that “ with the initial idea of the delegation of the Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam who visited Germany nearly 30 years ago, we have had the encouragement to support Vietnam’s education . Thus, WUS always makes great effort to build and maintain the scholarship fund every year.
Kambiz Ghawami added that “ For 24 consecutive years, the Hessen Ministry of Science and Arts donates 200 scholarships (216 euros per year) to outstanding students in more than 50 universities, colleges and professional schools. Scholarships are not only meant to support disadvantaged students but also to bridge the friendship between Vietnam and Germany”.
At the ceremony, Bùi Văn Linh, Deputy Director of Student Affairs Department (MOET) expressed his wish that students would take use of the scholarships for learning purposes and promote the spirit learning. He also hoped that Hessen State would continue to support for Vietnamese students in the future.
On behalf of the students honored for these scholarships, Trần Thị Thu Hà, a senior student of Hanoi University of Foreign Languages, expressed her gratitude to the Ministry of Arts and Science of Hessen, the German World University Support Organization, Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam and Dr. Bùi Công Thọ, the founder and supporter of this scholarship fund.
I hope that there would be more and more scholarships to support disadvantaged students strive to study and improve their selves. We promise to keep training and learning to gain our targets and be worthy of the purpose of the scholarship, Hà shared.
In addition to the scholarship worth of VND 5.3million, outstanding students also received certificates of scholarships from the Hessen Ministry of Science and Arts and from WUS.
The scholarship recipients must have excellent achievements, average grades of 7.5 or above, living in difficult conditions or in remote areas or ethnic minority, social policy. This scholarship prioritizes for female students.
