Mr.James E. Koutz, AL’s National Commander, expressed his honor to be warmly welcomed at the VUFO’s headquarters. He said that his delegation’s visit aimed to grasp the situation of Vietnam, as well as Vietnam-US relations and the outcomes of the bilateral cooperation between Vietnam and US in settlement of the MIA issue. In addition, the delegation would visit the MIA excavation sites in Quang Ngai and Thua Thien Hue.
President Vu Xuan Hong briefly informed the delegation of the Vietnam-US cooperation in settlement of the MIA issue; the current situation in Vietnam, VUFO’s activities in promotion of people-to-people diplomacy between the two countries and veterans organizations as well. He hoped AL will continue to pay more attention to the settlement of the Vietnam War consequences such as the Agent Orange /Dioxin issue, bombs and landmines left from the war…
Mr. James E. Koutz, on behalf of the AL delegation, agreed with President Vu Xuan Hong’s views and hoped both sides will have more opportunities to promote the friendship relation between the peoples of Vietnam and the USA.
