The event was attended by VUFO President Vu Xuan Hong; Uruguay Ambassador to Vietnam Carlos Irigaray; Assistant to Foreign Minister Nguyen Ngoc Son; representatives of some other ministries and agencies and leaders of friendship associations between Vietnam and Latin American countries.
Since the establishment of diplomatic ties in 1993, the relations between the Vietnam and Uruguay have enjoyed positive developments. The two countries have worked closely together and supported each other in international organizations and multilateral forums. Various cooperation agreements have been signed between the two sides, providing a solid framework for bilateral cooperation in economy, trade, agriculture, culture, sports, science and technology.
Mr. Son appreciated Ambassador Irigaray, the first Uruguayan Ambassador to Vietnam, for his important contributions to the development of bilateral relations in recent years. He also appreciated VUFO’s cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in promoting the solidarity, friendship and cooperation with other countries in the world, including Uruguay.
He expressed his belief that the friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Uruguay will grow and flourish in the future in the interest of the two nations and for peace, stability and development in the regions and the world.
For his part, Ambassador Carlos Irigaray expressed his sincere thank to Vietnam’s ministries, agencies, and mass organizations for helping Uruguayan Embassy since its establishment. He hoped that in the future, cooperation relationship and friendship between two countries will be further strengthened.
