Attending the ceremony were Vu Mao, the Viet Nam - Cambodia Friendship Association Chairman; Nguyen Van Hung, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Phoenix International Co., Ltd., the Viet Nam - Cambodia Friendship Association Vice Chairman; Prak Nguon Hong, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Cambodia to Vietnam; representatives of the Association and ministries, branches, officials and Cambodian students working and studying in Hanoi.
Speaking at the meeting, Chairman Vu Mao expressed his delight at the significant achievements that Cambodian people have gained in national liberation throughout the 64 years, adding that the country will make further development.
He said that two countries have nurtured a longstanding traditional cooperation and friendship, which has been both challenged and strengthened over time. In the past years of struggle for national liberation, Viet Nam and Cambodia have fought against the common enemy and achieved great successes, laying a firm foundation for a strong relationship. After the independence of Cambodia, the relationship between the two countries has been raised to a new height and constantly developed.
The two sides held a series of activities commemorating the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties (June 24th, 1967-2017), namely the “Viet Nam - Cambodia Friendship and People-to-People Cooperation Meeting” in Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong and Ba Ria - Vung Tau provinces. The Association also held a conference to review activities for five years of the “Nurturing the seeds of friendship” movement and set targets for the next five years.
Chairman Vu Mao hoped that the young generations of Viet Nam and Cambodia would inherit and continue the sound traditional friendship and the stable and long-standing comprehensive co-operation between the two countries, in order to achieve the goal of building two countries for the mutual benefit of both countries, and for peace, stability and development in the region and around the world.
Ambassador Prak Nguon Hong thanked the Association and Phoenix International Co., Ltd. for holding such meeting to mark the 64th anniversary of Independence Day of the Kingdom of Cambodia.
Emphasizing the traditional friendship between both countries, Ambassador Park Nguon Hong said that in recent years, they have preserved and promoted the good neighborliness and traditional friendship. The two countries regularly exchange high-level delegations; maintain cooperation in all fields, especially economic – trade. These achievements are vivid evidence of the enhanced friendship, fraternity and the long-standing cooperation between Viet Nam and Cambodia. At the same time, he highly appreciated the activities of the Association and Phoenix International Co., Ltd. in recent years, contributing to consolidating and enhancing the friendship and cooperation between the two peoples.
The meeting took place in a friendly atmosphere. Two countries’ representatives have performed many special performances praising the country, the people of Viet Nam and Cambodia; the traditional friendship between the two peoples.
