Cambodia’s 64th Independence Day marked in Ho Chi Minh City

The Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations and the Viet Nam - Cambodia Friendship Association in Ho Chi Minh City held a ceremony on November 8 to mark Cambodia’s 64th Independence Day (November 9).

Speaking at the event, President of the Association Truong Minh Nhut affirmed that Viet Nam and Cambodia hold good neighborliness, time-honored friendship and comprehensive cooperation.

The two countries have striven to consolidate and develop the friendship and cooperation and coordinated closely at international forums in order to lift the bilateral relations to a new height, for the interests of the two peoples and for peace, stability, development cooperation in the region, Nhut added.

According to Truong Minh Nhut, in the first nine months of 2017, Viet Nam's total investment into Cambodia reached over US$ 3.2 billion, with more than 172 projects, ranking the fifth among foreign investors in Cambodia and being the Cambodia's third largest trade partner. The Viet Nam – Cambodia Friendship Association in HCMC together with Vietnamese social and charity organizations have run many activities on social security, supporting the Cambodian, overseas Vietnamese living in the Bien Ho and poor people in border areas.

On the occasion, Cambodian Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City Im Heng expressed his gratitude to the Party, Goverment and mlitary of Viet Nam for national liberation of the Cambodian. He took the occasion to thank Vietnam for helping his country escape from the Pol Pot genocidal regime and gain independence.

The ceremony took place in the warm atmosphere of brotherhood solidarity between the two nations.
