The event was part of the activities jointly held by the Vietnamese Embassy in Bulgaria, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bulgaria, and the Ho Chi Minh Museum on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's State visit to Bulgaria (August 1957), and the 55th anniversary of the two countries' diplomatic ties.
The exhibition featured a number of precious photos and documents covering President Ho Chi Minh's historic visit to Bulgaria from August 13-17, 1957, his life and revolutionary career, as well as the cause of national construction and defense of the Vietnamese people in the 20th and early 21st centuries. The exhibition also introduced old maps about islands of Viet Nam.
A seminar on President Ho Chi Minh, a Vietnamese hero for national liberation and a great man of culture, as well as marking the 67th anniversary of the Viet Nam - Bulgaria relations, was also held at the event.
In her speech, Vice President Iliana Iotova said that her mother was a witness of President Ho Chi Minh's visit to Bulgaria 60 years ago. To her and her generation, President Ho Chi Minh was always considered a respectful leader of the Vietnamese people for his humility, simplicity and great personality. During his stay in Bulgaria, the Vietnamese President spent most of his time meeting people, as well as visiting kindergartens, schools, and farms.
Speeches presented by the scholars of Viet Nam and Bulgaria, the Bulgaria – Viet Nam Friendship Association... at the seminar focused on the ways with which to foster the time-honored diplomatic relations between the two countries, in addition to strengthening the friendship between the two peoples through social organizations, as well as highlighting the achievements of the Renovation process in Viet Nam in recent years.
