Exhibition “Cultural connection between Colombia and Vietnam” opens in Hanoi
TĐO – A Colombian photography and handicraft exhibition opened at the Vietnam Exhibition Center for Culture and Art (No. 2 Hoa Lư street) in Hanoi on May 29, which was cooperated by Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vietnam and Embassy of Colombia in Vietnam.
The exhibition introduces the Colombian characteristics including cultural heritages in multi-dimensional perspective that creates the cultural diversity of the South American country.
The exhibition displays the award-winning photos of 5 outstanding photographers winning the Cultural Press Award 2014 and 2016 of the Colombian Ministry of Culture, along with more than 40 handicrafts including jewellery, hand-woven carpets and knitted hats and baskets, made by veteran Colombian artisans.
At the opening ceremony, Colombian Chargé d’affaires to Vietnam Claudia Zambrano says that the exhibition is a part of the two countries’ cultural exchange programme for 2017-2019. He expects that the exhibits will convey to visitors the soul of artists and artisans, as well as the Colombian people’s admiration and affection for Vietnam.
Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Vương Duy Biên lauded the Colombia Embassy’s initiative to organize the event, saying that it helps strengthen friendship and cooperation, while promoting trade and cultural exchanges between the two nations.
The exhibition also helps Vietnamese people to better understand the cultural diversity of the South American country, he added.
