Brazilian Ambassador receives VUFO’s Friendship Medal
The Medal For Peace and Friendship among nations was handed to Brazilian Ambassador H.E. Victoria Alice Cleaver by Dr. Nguyen Van Lang, President of the Vietnam – Brazil Friendship and Cooperation Association (VBFCA) who also represents the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organization (VUFO), at a ceremony on Aug. 21 in Hanoi.
The three years of the Ambassador’s office in Vietnam have witnessed several important events: the 25th anniversary of the bilateral diplomatic ties, with two-way trade more than doubling to 2.3 billion USD in 2013 fr5om from 1 billion USD in 2011. Many fields of bilateral cooperation such as agriculture, fisheries and bio-energy have seen positive development.
“Ambassador Victoria Alice Cleaver has actively collaborated with the ministries, departments and organizations of both Vietnam and Brazil to promote agreements between the two countries. She also plays a significant role in expanding Portuguese language in Vietnam, having closely worked with the VBFCA to gather various cultural and business exchange events for a much better mutual understanding between Vietnam and Brazil”, Dr. Nguyen Van Lang said in recognition of the Ambassador’s contributions.
Speaking at the ceremony, Ambassador Cleaver expressed her honour to receive VUFO’s friendship medal and conveyed her sincere thanks to the support and cooperation of many agencies in Vietnam during her term. The Ambassador stretched on continuing to work for the development of Vietnam-Brazil ties.
