With the presentation of representatives from the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations (VUFO) and the Vietnam-Poland Friendship Organization, the two VUFO medals for Peace and Friendship among nations were conferred on Polish counselors at Poland’s Embassy in a ceremony on July 23.
Addressing the event, Mrs. Nguyen Thi Hoang Van, VUFO Vice-President expressed her appreciation for Mr. Jacek Kasprzyk, Ministry Counselor, and Mr. Wojciech Gerwel, Economic and Commercial Counselor.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Kasprzyk and Mr. Gerwel expressed their honor of receiving the medal from VUFO and conveyed unforgettable memories of the country and people of Vietnam following the delighting development brought by the Doi Moi (Renovation) process. The two diplomats were grateful to VUFO, the Vietnam-Poland Friendship Association for long collaboration and support in their working term in Vietnam and pledged they would continue to make contribution to strengthening friendly and cooperative relations between Vietnam and Poland in their next position.
Mr. Kasprzyk started his working term in Vietnam in 2010 and has been in charge of political and external relations at the Embassy in Hanoi. He has actively coordinated with Vietnamese partners in order to deploy the cooperation activities, setting-up exchange visits of delegations from the Polish government, the National Assembly, ministries and departments etc. Mr. Kasprzyk also played a key role in organizing the Poland film festival in Vietnam and a series of cultural events to enhance bilateral friendship exchange.
During the seven years of work in Vietnam since 2007, Economic and Commercial Counselor Wojciech Gerwel has successfully organized three Vietnam-Poland Business Forum in 2010, 2012 and 2014 in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, attended by senior Polish ministers as well as the business community from Poland, representing various fields of corporation such as agriculture, processing, hygiene production and environment technologies, foods, dairy, eliminating climate change, information technology, mining, ship building, medical and pharmaceutical, real estate, finance, banking and defense industries. The business forums stood behind a jump in the bilateral trade value to US 1.2 billion in 2013.
The two Counselors have been in close contact with the Vietnam-Poland Friendship Association.
