Meeting with heads of Vietnam representative agencies abroad (2014-2017)

(Vietpeace) A delegation of newly appointed Vietnamese ambassadors held a meeting with the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations (VUFO) on July 10 before their departure for overseas mission in the 2014-2017 period.




Mr. Vu Xuan Hong, VUFO’s President; Mr. Don Tuan Phong, VUFO’s Vice President and General Secretary; Mrs. Nguyen Thi Hoang Van, VUFO’s Vice President along with heads of  VUFO’s departments met with Mr. Thanh Du, Deputy Foreign Minister, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to the Kingdom of Cambodia, who led the delegation of 25 ambassadors.

VUFO President Vu Xuan Hong warmly congratulated ambassadors for their appointments and wished success for their new tenure.

While making a brief introduction about the VUFO, its functions and tasks in leading the people-to-people activities and foreign non-governmental aid mobilization, Hong expressed his hope that the new ambassadors would continue to collaborate with VUFO to contribute to the cause of peace, solidarity, friendship and cooperation with countries all over the world. He also asked the ambassadors to support VUFO in consolidating friendship networks abroad and the cooperation with NGOs in related countries.

Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Mr. Thach Du highly appreciated the role of people-to-people diplomacy in building a friendship and support environment for the development of the country. Sharing the challenges faced by Vietnam in the new period, the Ambassador reaffirmed that Vietnam’s overseas diplomatic agencies will stand ready to cooperate with VUFO in promoting the people-to-people friendship links for raising external resources to  help Vietnam’s socio- economic development.
